Bike Rodeos

About Bike Rodeo

Since the early days of the Safety Village, Ottawa Safety Council Bike Rodeos have provided young cyclists the chance to learn safe riding skills, and rules of the road, through fun activities and/or demonstrations.  Bike safety is a core component of our programming for children, from kindergarten through grades 4.  In 2016, we had over 2000 children participate in the OSC bike rodeos!

Children will learn about various elements of safe and responsible bicycling, including:

  • Proper Helmet fitting
  • Bike Check for tires, brakes, chain, pedals, seat
  • Rules of the Road and Traffic Signs
  • Hand Signals
  • Shoulder Check
  • Balance
  • Weaving and Maneuvering
